Pioneering Food Courts
Nigeria 2002
Challenge:
• Developing and launching the first international food court concept in Nigeria presented multifaceted challenges due to underdeveloped infrastructure, supply chain limitations, and logistics challenges
How We Did It:
• Coordinated training for key local suppliers to meet international product specifications, ensuring quality standards were met before restaurant openings
• Managed long importation and clearing lead times by meticulously planning the importation and storage of all fit-out and intellectual property items to ensure seamless continuity and consistency
• Due to the absence of sewerage lines, soak-away septic tanks had to be installed at each location. Installed water storage and treatment plants to address inconsistent and unsafe water supply. Installed generators and diesel tanks to combat inconsistent power supply
• Sent a core team of Managers and Staff for international training to acquire requisite skills. They then trained local teams to ensure operational excellence prior to opening
• The launch of the first food court was a significant event, attracting coverage from radio and TV stations, marking a milestone in Nigeria’s dining scene
